Run Off Continues
May 25, 2010
The Bighorn Mountains are flowing with the best of them right now in full run off mode. Memorial Day weekend is coming up and there is a lot of snow on the mountain. Most of the campgrounds are still closed and many of the roads are still closed. Some of the mountain creeks are open and able to be fished, but there is a lot of snow around the creeks and between you and the water. The low land creeks are high and muddy. The prairie lakes and reservoirs are all fishing good. Guys have been catching a bunch of rainbows out of lake Desmit. Muddy Guard has also produced some heavy browns and rainbows. Lake Desmit opened the season with a nice 13 pound 32 inch brown a couple of weeks ago. Sorry no photos available. There have been a few dozen 4-6 pound rainbows and browns caught over the past couple of months in the area lakes and reservoirs. The season is gearing up to be a great one, so book trips quickly if you want to cast a big hopper on 0x leader to true 20 inch browns. Have fun fishing and I hope to hear from you soon.
