March 2011

March 16, 2011

Hello All,

March has come and it is time to think fishing if you are not already there.  The gas prices this summer will likely be high, so budget for the long hall.  We here at the Fly Shop of the Bighorns offer several options of fly fishing that are hard to match.  Small creeks, big creeks, private creeks, and private reservoirs and public lakes.  We can mix in a float on the Bighorn River if these creeks are not enough.  A truly great selection of trout and trout waters.  If you want to catch Brooks, Rainbows, Browns, Cutthroat, Cutthroat hybrid trout and other types of fish like Mountain White fish (or as I like to call them “Freshwater Bonefish”), Mackinaw or Splake the Bighorn Mountains are a great place to have fun.

There are still some dates in July and August available for guide trips, but call soon.  Dates are filling fast and Guides are booking up all their time.  If anyone walks in this summer for a guide day, I will likely have to tell them we are booked.  Don’t let the lack of planning for your summer ruin your summer fishing trip.  The Bighorn Mountains will be ready for your enjoyment.  You will just have to fish it on your own if you wait too long.  If you do wait too long, I am sure you’ll treat yourself right.

I fished the Tongue Canyon this past Sunday for a few hours and had a good time.  I caught browns, white fish and a rainbow.  My 3 year old daughter and my 10 year old son utilized most of my fishing time, but we had a great hike and climb mixed with three holes of fishing.  All in all we had a great time and some fish cooperated as well.  It was great to get my first day in TC and I am looking forward to this season of fishing.

I look forward to seeing you all this summer in the Bighorns.
